2022 Children’s Ministry Summer Intern
Job Description
Purpose: The purpose of the Summer Intern Program with Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church Children’s Ministry is to offer the opportunity for individuals who feel called into Children’s (or Youth) Ministry to experience specific aspects of serving in a professional ministry position. Our hope is to provide hands-on experience within many different aspects of Family Ministry. The program is also a service to Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in providing a quality program for the children of our church and community during the summer months.
Supervision: The 2022 Summer Intern will be supervised by the Associate Pastor of Youth, Children, and Families (NextGen Pastor) in coordination with the Children’s Ministry team of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church. Interns will participate in weekly team meetings and in monthly meetings with the Children’s Ministry Team.
Description of Duties:
- Participate in weekly Children’s Worship on Sundays. This includes preparation of a Bible study or activity on Sunday mornings for K-5th grade for Children’s Worship during the 11am Worship Service.
- Assist in Children’s Sunday School (9:45am).
- Lead Children’s Worship once per month.
- Assist in Children’s Worship two of the other three weeks of the month.
- Attend children’s ministry meetings and training events.
- Prepare five on-site/off-site activity events for kids which involve an element of fun yet have a theological component to it.
- Aid in planning and implementation of Vacation Bible School. (July 10-14)
- Attend and assist in the supervision of Crossroads Summer Camp for the Student Ministry. (held June 20-24, 2022 in Anderson, SC)

- Love for children and desire to teach children about the love of Jesus
- Ability to work well with others and promote a strong team atmosphere
- Teachable spirit with focus on reaching children & families outside the church for Christ
- Fun-loving and energetic personality that enjoys spending time with kids
Terms of Service & Compensation:
- Children’s Ministry Internship is for the summer semester beginning Tuesday May 24, 2022 through Sunday August 7, 2022.
- Internship hours will fluctuate from week to week based on summer activities with an average of approximately 25 hours per week. Typical schedule would be Tuesday-Thursday 9:00-3:00 with additional hours for Sunday mornings and special events.
- Interns will be compensated on the normal church payroll cycle (15th and 30th of each month) and compensation will be based on education level and experience.
- Interns must be at least 21 years of age and some seminary education is preferred, but not required.
- Applicants must be able to commit to the entire internship from beginning to end.
